A deliberate Christmas season

So this year our church did a huge production called “Another Christmas Vacation”. This was a parody on the movie starring Chevy Chase set in the 2012 with 18,000 lights, drama, and amazing music. Unbelievable! It was funny. It was beautiful. It was beautifully directed. It was PERFECT! I saw all four productions – my husband was an actor in the drama and my daughter sang in the choir. What an opportunity to reflect on what the real meaning of Christmas is all about. The birth of our Savior – Jesus Christ! This has been a difficult Christmas season and one that has caused me to reflect on how thankful that I am. A teammate of my son’s wrestling team died in an accident. He was 10. This coupled with all of the sadness on television from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings has caused me to shed many tears this holiday season but I have a new set of eyes focused on the ones that I love. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to continue to do just that – focus more on others and simply love. I choose joy this holiday season and will continue to do so in 2013.
